My Story

The motivation behind my 12-day challenge is deeply rooted in both my personal experiences and a desire to support the wider community. Having faced my own mental health struggles throughout my life, and seeing a close family member go through their own challenges, I’ve felt firsthand the power of support, understanding, and openness. This personal connection is what drives me to take on this challenge for the third year in a row.

What truly fuels my passion for this challenge, though, is the sense of community it creates. It’s not just about the individual tasks or the physical aspect of the challenge; it’s about bringing people together. There’s something incredibly powerful about seeing people engage with one another, donate, and participate in the challenge while also reflecting on their own mental health. It reminds us that we are not alone in this journey.

If, through this challenge, I can help even one person feel more comfortable opening up or starting a conversation about their own mental health, then I consider it a success. For me, it’s not just about raising awareness or funds—it’s about creating an environment where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to take care of themselves. That’s what keeps me going, year after year.

Through completing this challenge, my primary goal is to not only push myself physically and mentally but also to create a meaningful impact in the communities around me. Mental health is something that affects so many of us, and often in silence. By taking on this challenge, I hope to contribute to breaking that silence, raise awareness, and foster a sense of solidarity—whether it’s within my local community, my network, or even broader online spaces.

I want to use this challenge as a platform to show that mental health is something we can all talk about openly, without stigma or fear. If I can bring even a small group of people together—whether through their donations, participation, or simply by sparking a conversation—then I will have succeeded in my mission. But it’s more than just raising awareness or funds; it’s about bringing communities closer, about showing that when we come together to support one another, we can make a real difference.

There’s something incredibly powerful about the collective energy that arises when people unite for a common cause. By challenging myself to do something difficult, I hope to inspire others to do the same, not just for their own mental health, but to show that we can all contribute to a larger movement of kindness, understanding, and shared responsibility. Through this challenge, I hope to not only raise awareness but also create connections, build empathy, and remind people that, together, we can face even the toughest challenges—whether mental, emotional, or physical.

Having raised £815 in my first year taking on the challenge, I increased it again in my second year raising a total of £1055. This year my target will be £1200, with the hopes I can exceed this through continued updates and check-ins throughout my social media and charity page.
